Munich Oktoberfest
Oktoberfest is back in Munich, bringing Bavarian tradition, packed beer tents, live music, food, rides and visitors from around the world to the Theresienwiese. In 2026, the festival runs from September 19 to October 4, with the official opening taking place when Munich’s mayor taps the first barrel at noon on September 19.
But with so much happening, choosing where to go can make a big difference to your experience. This year there are 17 large and 21 small festival tents, each offering its own atmosphere, food, music and crowd. Entry to the main festival grounds and tents is generally free, although busy tents can temporarily stop admitting visitors when they reach capacity.
Before booking accommodation, choosing a restaurant or deciding which tent to visit, take a look at what other visitors have experienced. Reviews can help you compare locations, understand what to expect and spot details that may not appear in official descriptions.
And Oktoberfest is about more than beer. Visitors can explore rides, traditional Bavarian events and the historic Oide Wiesn, where vintage attractions, folk music and traditional dancing offer a quieter look at the festival’s roots.
Planning ahead can make a busy trip much easier. Check recent experiences, compare your options and share your own review afterwards so the next visitor has more information to work with.
